Unless it is Super-AMOLED, which I highly doubt, you have it backwards.

OLED displays are very nice and produce rich colors and deep blacks, but their worst flaw is daylight visibility, which is pretty weak. I wish OLED had great visibilty in the sun but they do not. The reason being is there is no backlight which is found on a traditional LCD. Instead, it uses a bioelectrical chemical to light and this washes out badly in the sun.

Just warning you before you make a mistake and buy them.

That was my impression as well. The VAR that is sending me the samples claims that they are a vast improvement over earlier generations of PMOLED displays. I guess we'll see. As Kioshi mentioned, the display is not in direct sunlight, so perhaps the high contrast ratio behind the smoked lens will do it. The gas gauge is just a backlit transflective LCD, but it is a higher contrast one than I've been able to source.
