They are necessary for a lot of programs be ones that run via your browser and those installed natively. I would strongly suggest you install. For future reference you should load up a USB key and make yourself a tool kit if you haven't. Place updated installs for small programs, updates, and drivers. Comes in super handy so you don't have to dick around with waiting for them to download each time. I rebulid my box once every 6 months.
