Yeah you should not have any negative affects on power due to that code but you still want to figure out what the problem is. If you have emissions testing that will cause a fail. I would also try venting the gas tank by removing the cap and then clear the code. You could have a blockage in the system somewhere, you could have a short, you could have a bad sensor, loose connection or a bad ground.

hey thanks again Camell, i remove the gas cap, start the car, clear the code, and close the gas cap, it's cleared now.
