this has hopefully gotta be a joke thread.... cuz this might be one of the most retarded whines I've ever seen, lmao....
"OH NOES!!!! I HIT THE REV LIMITER AND IT BOUNCED OFF IT A FEW TIMES!!!!! MY CAR IS RUINED!!!" i've bounced off the rev limiter countless times, as have MANY others on this forum, in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and i've tried my damn hardest to get it to do the same in 4th, but the gov kicks in too soon. Unless you sit there and just sit in your driveway and hold the gas on the floorboard for like 3 straight minutes, odds are, you won't damage anything. Hell, it's suggested to go through a full range of rpms during a break in period to just ensure everything settles in correctly.

Yeah know need to go negative on the OP. This is a legitimate question and concern.
A break in period is still a good process to take although it isn't nearly as important as on past cars. Today's cars can take far more abuse and are already built to much tighter tolerances that require little "settling" of engine components. Still, automakers recommend these break in periods that suggests limiting RPM, very high speed, jack rabbit starts, and long sustained speeds. The OP has every right to wonder if he may have affected long term durability. That said, I don't think there's anything to worry about from this example especially on a proven to be bullet proof engine. Today's cars are extremely resilient to abuse. Don't get your underwear all in a bunch!
I drive a Focus SVT and the hard limit on revs is the oil pump disintegrating at 8000 RPMs, my redline (after an after market tune) is 7600 RPMs. I've bounced off the rev-limiter and there isn't much to worry about. Okay maybe you'll only get 999,750 miles out of your engine instead if the 1,000,000 you were hoping for.
Toyota (despite all the recalls and anti-Toyota rhetoric) builds damn fine engines, I'll bet there's some builders who have no trouble revving their engines to 9,000 for extended periods of time. Enjoy your car, it will last longer than you'll want it (unlike my SVT) |

ive bounced mine off the limiter on several occasions...mainly at a lapping day where there was a section of the track allowed me to go fast enough to top out 2nd, but was too short to be worth the shift to 3rd.... just banged off the limiter for a few seconds before hitting the corner... powertrain warranty if the engine dies...
