Sounds like you're rev'ing the diesel way to high. Mine is not producing much power above 4500 RPM, but i only got stock 2010 with 90HP and 205Nm and 6-gear manual. But it seems to work fine :D

When I change gear, the engine hits about 4.000 rpm again in the next gear, so I have a good powerband... If I keep the throttle in the floormats...
