please dont go flat black/satin black.. It makes the owner couldnt afford a full paint job and just put black primer on it. like those who put body kits on thier cars and cant afford to paint that, but still put it on reguardless.
I really like the dark grey idea though.

OTOH, painting cars flat black seems to be the new trend (yuck, IMO) and to say it is done because the owner couldn't afford a paint job may be over generalizing since even Sport Compact Car magazine had a STi project car that they painted in rattle can flat black. I will agree that it was a trend that started up in the earlier 2000's that gave many kids still in school to get a cheap paint job and feel included with the rest. OP asked for opinions, and that is mine.

I totally agree if it is not done professionally, but for example a guy that I went to college with had his 350 Nova SS done in matte black with all of the Chrome resurfaced and it looked so nice it was nuts. It was the talk of many towns around me. Glad you didn't take offense. Mazilla, Have you thought about the House of Kolor Kameleons? http://www.tcpglobal.com/hokpaint/hokkameleon.aspx

Haha! I'd rather people think that, it gives me a chance to take advantage of them. ![]() ![]() The only problem with a complete color change that I can see is I'd want to remove all traces of the original paint...which means I'd have to strip the engine compartment/etc, that's a lot of work, unless you guys think I could get away with a black engine bay and a charcoal-ish grey exterior? I'd spray the door jambs, etc(obviously)...just the core of the engine bay would be black. I'm going to change the rim color too...just need to get a car color squared away first.

Idea #1
Rhino Coat -Its black, dont even need to paint the inners -Dont see dents easily, easy touch ups. Idea #2 (Greater fail rate) Buy yourself a Airbrush, pick out one color like white, pull out your artistic skills, and have some fun. Add some white rims to set it all off. Alternate route for the less artistic people. Go to your local high school, Art class, and pick a kid who can draw. Give him/her the airbrush, and tell them to get to work on the tailgate, two quarters, and half the doors, blend the rest of the car. Dont expect the best and tip the kid a grand. |
