new brakes or some bs upsell?

I have 25K on my 2009 and a couple of weekends ago, while I had it up on the lift with the tires off, I checked my brake pads and they had barely any wear at all.

This. Mine's 2008 roughly the same mileage, and brakes look like new. It might be slightly different with an auto as mine is manual and I tend to downshift and only use the brakes to come to a complete stop.

Unless the previous owner stood on those brakes 24x7 I doubt they need replacing. I think the worst case I ever read about on here was at 15K but the driver admitted to being a brake abuser.
