A few days ago after reading this thread, I ordered a TRD bar from Micro Image. Keeping in mind I have my rear seat out, including the structure that it mounts to (that tubular thing, besides mounting the seat it probably also helps tie things together). Today I had it out on the interstate, and for the first time it tracked like it was on rails! Like others have opioned, the difference is dramatic, and the installation was super simple. I spent more time getting it in the air enough to get underneath then the actual install. Can't speak to any difference in cornering, but on the highway it is now MUCH better.

Most all car maufactures purposely dumb down their inexpensive models because there is a much larger margin of profit in the more expensive models. So, one way to get people to purchase the more expensive models is to make them better handeling by comparison. Yes, they could have made the rear sway bar standard on the Yaris but, it would be shooting themselves in the foot. BTW, back in the 1970s, Ford admitted that it only cost them about $500 more to build the top of the line "Galaxie 500" over their low end "Pinto". However, they sold the Galaxie 500 for thousands more. Last edited by RedRide; 02-09-2012 at 06:22 PM. |
