firemachine69,
Sorry that happened to you. I bought a 100,000 mile extended warranty for my Yaris. Kind of always regretted doing that, but after your story, maybe not. I've had zero problems with my 2010 Yaris thus far, and have around 10,300 miles on it. I'm no expert, but it seems American car companies have a better rep with their trucks compared to their small cars. So, I'm sure you'll do fine with your F-150. Be that as it may, the way you feel about Toyota is the way I feel about American cars. I've owned so many crap American cars that were in the shop constantly that I refuse to ever buy an American car again. Ever. Probably kind of irrational on my part, but hey, my experience is my experience. Best car I ever owned was a used 1999 Corolla. Zero problems and I probably shouldn't have sold it. So, I'm hoping to have similar luck with my Yaris. Good luck to you. |

I took my Yaris on a trip to Florida a few months ago and before leaving I: had the serpentine belt changed for the first time at about 207k, had the brakes checked (funny sound---just needed slight adjustment and dust removed--about $40 total---and front and rear both 80 percent remaining---only 20 percent worn in 207k), had the oil changed at about 207k,added a bit of coolant to the overflow tank (it was a bit below the line), had the spark plugs changed for the first time at about 208k, and right after the spark plugs I changed the air filter myself. I may have left something out, but I don't think so (the exact intervals are on an old post). I had the spark plugs changed at the dealer and when they gave me the car back they told me they looked hard to see if there was anything they could recommend I take care of and the only thing they could come up with was the air filter (which I already had with me waiting to put in once the spark plugs were replaced). They said it is NOT burning oil at all. I'll hit the Yaris' 6th Anniversary (new when delivered) in October of this year and it will be fun to see how many miles are on the odometer at that point. My Yaris still feels rock solid ( A Wednesday car? ). I'll likely never catch Trini nor Mazilla (as Mazilla is close to 500k and Trini is at 459k+), but I'm sure I'll be adding low cost miles for a long time to come.
