So what you're saying is, you had problems and have written off Toyota as a whole because you decided that using the smallest car they sell in North America as a towing vessel was a good idea.

No helping you then, enjoy your truck, Godspeed with the Jetta (Volkswagen is an apocalypic pile of garbage, especially early Mark IVs) and don't let the door hit you on the way out.

I had a Tercel, equally junk.

And it is rated for 800lbs in Canada: 2200lbs in the UK. A rating would equal suitability, no? (Ha! Trick question, the law has already answered this with a resounding "YES".)

But a few years back i bought a new Suzuki Wagon that had just about every problem imaginable, dealer ultimately said i was abusing the car and was actually threatening to cancel the warranty.. needles to say much as i like Suzuki styling they'll never get another dime off me.
I remember laughing up the idea of the extended warranty and how they were such a scam to the Toyota sales guy (because unlike my current dealership that sold one at cost - the stealership makes around 50% mark-up). I now 100% believe in buying an extended warranty from a reputable company. Just another form of insurance, and personally, it seems at worse that I've broken even on any insurance I purchase - minus life insurance, of course.

Honestly, anyone that buys a truck wanting good FE needs to pull their heads out of their asses. There's no way you're going to push/pull 6000lbs in a thrifty fashion. Thriftier? Sure. Thrifty? Maybe when the seas part again...

I know from 30 years of using "fleet" vehicles, that some people are just hard on equipment. They just seem to have bad luck with whatever they use. It is a strange phenomena that drives fleet managers nuts.
