Something odd about that original story, I would be interested in hear how he was carrying (holster, location, etc). I've had numerous people hug me while I was carrying (I'm a loveable guy in person! ) and while a few have felt my concealed firearm, there is no way they could have accidentally discharged it.

Unless he was carrying "Mexican style" (carrying a gun without a holster, jammed in your waistband up front) there aren't many ways this could have happened. This incident would require the weapon to be carried on the front of the person, most people carry either on the hip or what is known as "appendix carry" meaning in the lower back and to one side.

By the way, the term "Mexican carry" is not a pejorative, it pays homage to the proud Mexican men of the 19th and early 20th Centuries. Beset by tyrants who stripped them of liberties, including the right to carry guns if they were not part of the political elite, these defiant citizens needed to be able to ditch the gun to be retrieved later if they were about to have contact with Federales, and since a holster could not be so quickly ditched and would be prima facie evidence of resistance to tyrants' law, the holster was dispensed with (per The Gun Digest Book of Concealed Carry).

Fascinating post . While reading the last paragraph, the first person who came to mind was Nancy Pelosi.....she who has IMHO draconian views re 'Joe Citizen' bearing arms and has an F rating from the NRA.....yet, of course, SHE HAS A CONCEALED CARRY PERMIT! I'm an enthusiastic adopted Texan who, unfortunately, had to hear about (and listen to on TV when a guest outside my home) Nancy Pelosi on a local level before she rose high enough within the H.O.R. to be known nationwide.
