Belt life? 248k on original belts :o - Toyota Yaris Forums

Glad to hear I wasn't nuts lol. The oem belt hasn't begun cracking yet it just never made any noise so I never bothered to change it. In 248k km so far I've had to replace 1 wiper, air filters and oil. I also did 1 plug change but am planning another.

I guess I also wanted to share what a great car it's been. I'm a total DIY so I've been waiting to have to do any repairs easily myself .. It's just never happened !

If you are going to do it yourself AND you know you will do it properly, changing it every '50-75k' (I'm assuming he meant milles.....equivalent to 80,645km-120,968km), as fnkngrv suggests makes perfect sense. Call me crazy, but to me it is like a game to see how low I can drive my per mile cost within the first 400,000 miles while at the same time being as sure as possible that when something is done, it is done right. After 400k, I'll buy a new car to compliment my Yaris (which I'm planning to keep). Right now I'm thinking Prius C Two (Hybrid vs Gas, CVT vs Manual, 4 people doors vs 2 people doors). Then if something 'beyond minor' comes up re my Yaris I can decide if I want to learn how to do the repair myself, pay to have it done, or say goodbye and search for another 5 speed 3-door (2011 with low miles?) to compliment the Prius C. Until I get to that point miles wise (and allow myself to buy a new car...unless my Yaris starts severely falling apart before that, which I think is not likely), I'll let someone else do all but really minor stuff....so that the likelihood of proper execution is manyfold greater

my issue (with myself

) is that when I do something mechanical re my car I'm 'OCDish' about whether I did it correctly or not...and I mean 'OCDish' to the level MrMiles is about the appearance of his Yaris

. I know from past experience that when I have two cars, I don't feel that same way.
