Hello,
Sorry to bring up this old thread but I am struggling with the same thing! I googled some pics of the cigarette lighter to see if i might see where the tabs are but could not. Here are some pics of the lighter in my car. Does the silver part need to come out first (the lighter assembly) or does the entire socket come out i.e. including the black surround? I have a spare lower dash, so I just tried it myself to refresh my memory. You have to first slide the metal part out of the black part. To do so (from your pictures): Release the plastic tabs that hold the metal part to the plastic part by pushing out on the tabs from inside of the lighter, which pushing the metal part from behind the dash. The metal part will then slide out. lighter - front.jpg Once the metal part is removed you can easily squeeze the tabs on the back side of the plastic part and slide it out as well: lighter - rear.jpg
