One of the sidebar videos on that YouTube link = Junkyard Turbo Swap! Chevy-Powered 1971 Datsun 240Z Autocross. Made me think about the Scarab. Anyone remember the Scarab from the 1970s? It was a modified Datsun Z car with a Chevy 327 V8 in it.

There are some decent electric superchargers out there.. mebbe not for the yaris, but one is developing a small following for the 86's (GT86/FRS/BRZ) look up the phantom electric supercharger.

Yes they replace the battery in the car and use some high voltage batteries that dump during WOT (and recharge very quickly when not WOT). Will run you over $1000 for one that works. The phantom I think is just an electric motor powering a turbo fan which is driving air into the intake. Its getting decent reviews. There was one at our 86 meet last weekend, but of course I didn't learn of it until the next day or I would have asked for a ride damnit!
