The lighter more efficient parts? The Yaris weighs 3-400 pounds more than the car it replaced the ECHO!

Pretty crazy lighter parts huh?

Uumm there's a lot of explanation for the different weights between the 2 different chassis. I'm pretty sure he was referring to drivetrain components. The additional safety equipment alone makes a lot of that difference. Hell just the fact that the echo has smaller wheels compare to the Yaris accounts for some of that weight difference. No matter how you slice it. Regardless I would be willing to make some compromises rather than drive or own the USDM echo because I am sorry but that car is ugly as f***.

Lol that gave me a good laugh!

I was referring to a standard power steering pump w/ fluid etc compared to an electrical one.

Yes I know. I think that's great but a car as small and light as the ECHO and Yaris doesn't really even need PS...

I agree. My 1986 Honda CRX-Si didn't have power steering way back in the day and I never missed it. It's an unnecessary feature in subcompacts, and more of a marketing bullet-point (as are power windows), if anything.
