sooo, after all this battery chat I went to start my car after work today and low and behold I hear the typical low battery starter buzz. It sounded a little more faint than the typical buzz so I wasn't sure what it was.

I was able to get it started (although it cranked slowly) I'm assuming the fuel from each unsuccessful start primed it enough to start on a very slow crank. After driving 10 mins I turned off the car and then started it again with no issue or slow crank. After a 30 mins I went to start the car and it again buzzed and then slow cranked.

Replaced the battery and now it crank faster than it ever has in about 2 years. $120 w/ taxes for the same size battery from Canadian Tire after the $20 I received from returning the original.

I can't complain the OEM battery got me through 7 and a half years and some nasty winters and never left me stranded. Too bad you can't purchase the OEM batteries for the same amount as an aftermarket...

I'm at 206k miles on my original battery. No problems, I put on 40k a year, and when it dies, I will go with a Optima.

I had an Optima (red top) in my 02 Celica and it was great.....particularity its cold cranking power compared to the stock battery.

BTW, the Optima and the Auto Zone's "Duralast" battery are both made by the same company ..."Johnson Controls" and the" Duralast" is reported to be very good also. The Optima is better of course.
