Was looking at apartment rents in Circle MT on Clist. $375 a month! I figger my house costs ~$1200 a month and I own it!

MT good for the budget.

I'll bet most of that is the property tax bill. My next door neighbors raised their kids in Clifton, NJ with 5 years in Houston smack dab in the middle. All of the kids finished school in New Jersey. Afterward, both boys and one girl came back to Houston. Only one daughter stayed in New Jersey. When they retired, they came back to Houston for the kids and grand kids, but also largely for the value...a large driver of that being the outrageous property taxes they were paying on their house in Clifton.

I was getting gas at the Safeway in Helena, MT on a Summer afternoon last year. An old man drove onto the grounds of the station in a fairly large ATV with no roll cage. He was smoking a cigar and also drinking a clear cup of beer. He started chatting with the cashier. They obviously knew each other. A cop drove through and clearly saw this guy, but was unfazed. The cop didn't stop and question the man...he just left...cracked me up. Helena has a great vibe during the Summer. I have a friend who lived a bit farther north in Great Falls for over 20 years. He'd usually drive back to the SF bay Area for Christmas. He told me it was so cold that he'd have to do a block (somewhere near the radiator) to keep the engine warm enough for driving south from Great Falls. He said the temps could hit 50 below (F) with the wind chill. Even given the beauty, I don't think I'd want to spend a winter in Montana.
