Property taxes on my house I paid $100,000 for in 92 ~$7000 year. Probably paid more in taxes to live in the house for 23 years that I did to buy it!

Rode my motorcycle along Route 200 across MT east to west in 2000 and when I drove to AK in 2011 followed that road a long ways also. Beautiful just beautiful!

Your percentage rate must be insane for a developed area (without Mello Roos or a MUD I imagine). IIRC, my neighbor's overall yearly property tax in Clifton was a bit over 15k....an insane amount they felt in retirement (the Mrs. had been a SAHM).

Yes, just beautiful. I traveled there in 1999 with my friend who had lived there. Entered Montana from Yellowstone Park and stayed in Livingston. Then to Butte and to Helena, then to Great Falls for about a week (stayed with friends of his) an then to St. Mary's and over the Going to the Sun Highway through Glacier National Park to Kalispel for a few days (?), then south to Polson along Flathead Lake and then to Lolo (just south of Missoula) and on to Idaho (Coeur d'Alene).

Last year I drove from Cheyenne, WY to Helena with a stop in Billings. Helena for a few nights, then less in Missoula before going on toward Spirit Lake, Idaho.
