It baffles me why Toyota would make regional variations of Yaris/Etc. details/equipment - such as the lower rear backup lights on the North American Yaris versions to name one of many (are they integrated into the taillights in other countries/regions, or just not installed due to differences in auto laws?). Seems like it would raise costs unnecessarily, regardless.

That's been baffling me too.
The new ones are made in France
and for instance the only motor to get in Denmark is 1.33/99HP
while in the US it's 1.5/??HP or in the UK DAB radio is standard, in Denmark FM only ?
All from the same factory.
BTW I have driven a RAV4 since 2007 and just ordered my first Yaris (due in Sept. T2 Style Benzin)
