Socket set with flat side outside?

I know this is an old thread, but if Im correct I happen to have come across this type of socket for the first time just recently. I think it was called an open/pass through socket set. The ratchet drives it from the outside although IIRC its like a standard ratchet inside out--meaning the driver is four-sided (square) as opposed to a hexagon in the OP's pic.
