Even if it is unsafe; so what if it falls off. They shouldn't be fallowing that close.

hey guys,

i just got a Yaris T1, want to put in a hatch spoiler, do you guys think that there is an alternative to drilling holes?

If it is a large wing style spoiler much like the one featured in this thread, then no, mechanical fasteners are the only safe method of attachment. The smaller lip style hatch spoilers can be safely secured with only 3M tape.

Best you show us what it is you are wanting to install.

I did a DIY spoiler the other day, however I'm lazy so I used a strip of VHB 3m tape and two zip threws through the top, instead of drilling it out and bolting it properly, it's never coming off at this point. I also bought two cans of touch up paint to paint the spoiler myself seems to match fairly well.

I have the same wing, on my 3rd summer and only glued in place with 3M tape. It's stuck there permanently and I did not drill into my car..

That Silver Yaris has finally shown me what it would look like on my car! :D I am completely sold seeing as even my mother's Daihatsu Sirion has a wing :P Now to face the fact that I have no dollars to my name :'(

I think the spoiler is the one thing that stands out the most versus a stock Yaris! I simply gotsta cancel that dentist appointment!!
