You are being had ie lied to.

Difference in compression between two cylinders has nothing to do with oil consumption.

Start checking your oil once a week. Add oil to bring the level up to the top line. Its OK for the level to be somewhere between the two lines but when it gets near the bottom one, add half a quart and check it the next day.

Check the oil in the morning with a cold engine that hasnt been run overnight.

Then report back.

PS My wifes car with 140,000 miles uses a quart of oil every 4000 miles.
