Is it just me with these seats?

Can't say I've ever done a 3000 mile road trip but on 4 hour trips I was good. Anything more than that and I started to get uncomfortable but tolerable. I don't think these cars were really made for one shot long distances. Seems more in line with city driving and running errands all day where you get in and out of the care periodically.

No doubt, but there are a couple regular forum members that have made some serious road trips in these cars and I don't recall them mentioning discomfort. If memory serves, they commented on how comfortable the cars were over the trips. As I said before, I think it depends on the individual. Different shapes/sizes, etc.

My sister is a stylist and I can't get comfortable in the washing chairs, while my better half is super comfy. I don't think it's a one size fits all thing with any car seat.
