The heel-toe technique was key to me when I used to drift my MX-5. The Yaris, not so much. Also, since I'm so tall (6'3"), the pedal placement made it difficult to really use the technique.
So I came up with a solution. Swap it around. Now I do a toe-heel technique where I use the edge of my heel to hit the brake then flex my foot forward to hit the gas with my toes. I don't know why, but this is a lot easier for me now. The hard part was learning not to slam the brake while blipping the gas.
