In theory your car is stiffer and some of the forces that one strut tower normally handles are transferred to the other strut tower. More rigidity.
I can imagine this can make a difference for big cars that are driven aggresively on bad roads. I am not sure if that makes sense for my 64kW Yaris but never tried to drive with and without to get any feel of it. Anyway, with almost 200 thousand kilometers it would be a lot better just to replace original shocks. :D

If you want to reduce understeer a rear sway bar is effective. Adding stiffness to the front will likely increase understeer
