7 years old and in danger of being replaced?

My Yaris is 10 years old. I have just ordered a Mazda CX-30 to replace my 8 year old Toyota Aurion (that's a V6 Camry elsewhere). My 23 year old son has finally got his driver's licence, and the Aurion is on the list of "banned" cars for new drivers, as it is over the allowable power to weight ratio, so he cannot legally drive it...

What a strange rule.

The original version banned a driver on a "provisional" licence (first three years from passing the test) from any vehicle with a V8 or forced induction. This eventually changed to any vehicle with a power to weight ratio in excess of 130 kilowatts per tonne.

I recently went on a trip with my wife to deliver a car load of items interstate. We did 2500 km in 3 days. I got caught out several times when I put my foot down like I would in the Yaris.

My first vehicle was a manual 2WD Explorer Sport Trac and I still street raced lol. Limiting the power/weight ratio won't stop youngins from hammering down.
