Just to let you know- the spoiler was put on the car in the factory. It's a limited edition spoiler and they only put it on about 5000 U.S. New Beetles between 2000 and 2004. And I got more compliments for it than insults. Everyone's got their opinions but that car was sold before I left the lot with my Scion (which is now gone).

no no... I was not saying a rice citation for the bug... my mom had a bug with that wing... it was kinda kewl on that.... but I am saying it would be kinda ricey on our cars

I agree.. The hatch is too flat to make it cosmetically appealing. The Beetle, however, has a semicircle-type hatch which complements the spoiler.
