Smile Hi

Mark,

I read your mileage report. 10% ethanol lowers mpg about 10%. Sad that ethanol is all that's available here in Mich & in many places. You are lucky to be able to buy 100% gas. Wish the US would drop that mandate & move back to all gas. Ethanol is bad for my old boat motor & I don't like to use it in any vehicle. And as it lowers mpg it can't be a net plus for our economy & country.

Your Yaris looks great!

Yes... ethanol burns quicker than gas, therefore, fewer miles to the gallon. It is cleaner burning than reformulated gas with MBTE additive, but there are problems that go with the use...

Problem is ethanol retains water. It also is a problem with lines and dissolving plastics. New cars are designed to handle the ethanol quantities. Old cars, small and large engine carburated vehicles, boats, tractors, and lawn equipment cannot handle for the most part. Main compaint I hear with farmers are about major hesitation and starts! Also ethanol gas shelf life is much less than MTBE gasoline.

Again, welcome aboard... lots of good threads here in YW... check them all out

Cheers!

Steveh27 , very good deal for a 2010 with low mileage . Doubt they changed the oil with only 4,600 miles . May want to get it done for warranty and peace of mind . ENJOY .

Thanks. They did change the oil and maybe the wiper blades too. Just sold my 1995 Tracker at my asking price ($2,400) less than 17 hours after posting it on craigslist. Sad to see it go, but the buyer is a Tracker fan & has 2 1995's already. Now on with my Yaris. This forum seems great & I look forward to hours of checking it out.

Smile Details on my 2010

I just got the list of all the options on my auto:

All Weather Guard Package
Cruise Control
Power Package
Convenience Package
Satellite Radio Capability, CD Text & Ipod Interface
Carpeted Mats
Rear Wiper
Tinted Windows
Bumper Protection

Paid 11,990 + 98 dealer fee for this 2010 6 months old w 4,600 miles.

I think that's it. I just did the mod of adding adjustable intermittent front wiper control.

Steve

Bought mines in June, list price was $16,670, got mines down to $14,348, 0% APR. 5 door LB Automatic, fully loaded power everything. Not sport package though. In CA! the land of overpriced stuffs. But I saw one dude who got his power everything LB for 11k, crazy skills! I haggled like 30 dealers though to get exactly the car I want at the price I want, but I didn't know that you could go even further.

Newest Yaris owner

Hey,
I am a new Yaris owner. I just bought a used 2008 2dr hatchback w/ 19k miles (clean title), power windows/locks, cd player, 5-speed in blazin blue. Only issue a 5 inch scratch in the drivers door (which i am working on touching up). Picked it up for $8k off ebay from a local guy.

Getting windows tinted tomorrow...

Cheers!

2010 3 door hatch back

I got the three door with power pack - power doors, windows, alarm and keyfob, driving / fog lights floor mats and life time warranty (set to see if this is of any value), tint, and a few other things that came with the car. the car final cost was about $15,500 out the door with Florida tax tag and title included in this out the door price. I paid a little under MSRP

The dealership was a bunch of shit head thieves that is the one thing I hate about Toyota in Florida the dealers I have delt with in the Jacksonville, Florida area are very crooked and the mechanics are scary than the sales people.

Avoid KeithPierson Toyota at all costs.

I have always like the car but the dealers are assholes. At least the cars are reliable and I have to spend little face time with the dealers.

I really wonder how much money they make on these cars. This crooked sales men say they make $50 but that is a load of crap. They have to make at least $3,0000 to $4,000 selling cars below MSRP on a Yaris. I mean these showrooms are high overhead and the profit margins on little small cars have to be at least 12% or they could not pay those high commisions and all the financing notes on those fancy palaces toyota dealers are buiding with airconditioned service bays. THey do get hold back and stairstep payments and this would have to be factored into the gross sale price. THey must make 30% profit margins on those fat mac daddy vehicles like the large SUV's and higher margin vehicles.

They make fat profits, are exempt from federal reporting laws and we feel it in the ass everytime a new car is purchased.
