Added myself to the list. I don't know if you considered this idea at all, but I think that if you make the intake just long enough so that the filter is in the fender it will get way cooler air. Taking the AEM route through the fender but stops right after the opening. Just a thought that came to mind while trying to make one myself. Looked like it wouldn't take much more than making it slightly longer than the weapon r. Looking forward to the highly anticipated release. Thanks for the dedication!

Kaotic Lazagna: I didn't have enough data from before having this intake on the car to get accurate gas mileage numbers. Since gas took a bit of a hike I began driving more conciously and I can say that I am around 40 MPG right now with most of those miles coming under 45 MPH. I'm going to test for sure starting today, as I notice that I am burning through gas slower now than ever. In short, I'm not going to sit here and say that this intake is the answer to our thirst for gas mileage just yet, but it certainly appears to be helping. I'm going to let Chris tell us specifically.

YamilR: Thanks brother!

Sam: The reason I chose not to put the filter down there is complex. First of all, as much as I say I'm designing this part for you guys, I'm really doing it for me. I don't believe forced induction on this motor will ever be viable. I plan on driving the wheels of my car, not blowing up the engine. Having said that, the idea is to maximize air flow, and the way to do that is to put as little as you can between the air and your throttle body. This design accomplishes that. It is part of a cocktail of N/A mods I would like to do to give this car a little kick in power... 100 WHP would be a good goal. As far as it getting warm air from the engine bay, there are three ways I can think of off the top of my head to combat this. One, make a ram air kit similar to what WR is doing with their SRI. Two, modify the body to allow air from outside the car to hit the filter, ie: the slot on the C-ONE front bumper. Three, a Cry02 kit and/or nitrous. I would like to see all three happen, and I may try to bring one or two of those ideas to fruition with a little help from my friends. I believe if you combine the temperature effectiveness of a CAI with the flow effectiveness of an SRI you will have an intake that truly outperforms any other intake for this car. When these intakes get sent out, the story is only beginning. I want to see you members take my design a step further and really put the part over the top. I can't wait to see that thread!

As always, thanks for the support guys. You're the bestestest.

I am planning on getting the reverse cowl hood that is sold by bulletproof automotive, I think that would work real well.

Even better lets go down to the electronics store and get some high CFM case fans and get Chino to go the next level...

Not trying to offend anyone, I just couldn't believe this when I saw it. It still makes me laugh.

Not sure yet if I want to paint it or not. Guess when I eventually do get it I'll put it on and see. Too many people around here don't get it, and have painted the hood black. +25 HP! I figure the CF hood, painted or not, would serve 3 purposes: Weight reduction (probably not much), looks, and functionality for the SRI.

you have ricers around there with regular hoods painted black to make them "look like CF" as well?

Oh yeah, BIG time. I think for every black hood I see (other than on all black vehicles of course) 1 out of 40 is CF. I have a great pic on my cell phone I will put up here today. Someone had a honda prelude with a suzuki emblem up front, a red filled honda emblem on back hanging by one peg. Also the interior was stripped. Oh, the killer was the spray painted stripe down the middle, the guy didn't even bother masking! I should be able to get the picture up in a hour or so, it was awful! Oh, it was at wal-mart too

Is there any way in hell for this intake to be CARB legal? I'm really not a fan of swapping stuff when it's time to visit the MAN...
