What's up Rusty. Been a while.
I moved to Rancho during the summer, before the Fall semester started. I haven't been doing much other than the nursing program. It's tougher than ever. How about you? |

So busy with work and school, it's tough keeping up. I'm behind in the only classes that actually matter.
Next sem I'm only gonna take two classes. I think I'm gonna just move slow from now on and keep working. I have to if I want to keep my car. Not much else going on really. I wanna play with photography/HDR more, but not enough free time. ![]() http://www.guysmily.com/gallery/2008-12-2 |

Yeah, HDR is fun.
Does your MR-S have HID's? In those pics, it looks like it does. |

Yeah it's got a kit for now. I'm thinking about retrofitting my fx35 projectors though.

That'd be sweet. I wonder if Sean from SFF forum can still get ahold of some TSX projectors.

TSX's are way easy to find. These ones are a little pricier, but..

Oh sorry, I couldn't remember if you had to be logged in or not. Regardless, that site is a great resource for retrofit information. You should sign up and read while you're doing your planning.

FYI (or for those who didn't know), TSX = low beam only, TL = bixenon (high and low) |

While driving on the road, it seems to me as tho the best projection and illumination come from S2000's, TL's, and TSX. The Q45's, imo, have horrible illumination, along with the lower end Benz's.
Can you get your hands on a pair of S2k projectors? |

S2000 is the sharpest low beam you can get.
LS430 (Lexus) is the widest (and costs a TON.. also large). TSX is the best price. TL is probably the best overall bixenon you can get. Porsche (unknown model) are wider and sharper, but more expensive and harder to find. FX35 is the cheapest, and still very good. Best value by far, imo. Especially since they cost the same as TSX. All projectors can be modified. S2000/LS430/TSX you wouldn't really mess with much, but TL and FX35 can be drastically improved with clear lenses and other stuff. Generally, german projectors are far behind in output quality. The Porsche projectors are Koito, I think - the rest are Bosch/Hella. Marginally cheaper, and far less impressive. Anyway, there are lots of options out there good and bad. S2000s are hard to get and expensive. Last I knew, they were around $400-$600. However, since there are mods for other projectors that are a fraction of S2000 prices, their demand (and price) may have dropped. Don't you have H4 headlights? Are you planning a dual projector retro or are you going to just dump your high beams? Personally, I could never give my high beams up. |

I hardly use my high beams (don't even know why I bothered to get H4-2 HID's). The only time I use the high beams are to flash drivers who cut me off. I'd like bixenons, but they're too expensive for me atm. For my future retro project, I'm planning on getting a single projector, most likely a TSX (or if I can find and afford, ones from S2k).
When are you free to go on a photoshoot? You still have my number, right? |

I could never live in Cali due to the tremendously thick book'o'laws!!! The weather is nice, aside from fires. ^-^

Eh, Cali's not that bad really. I've never had trouble with cops. I've gotten one rightly-deserved fixit ticket for no front plate ticket after 2 years of having no front plate, and I got one when my temporary registration card expired because I was too lazy to go to the DMV and ask for an extension. I deserved both tickets.
Next week I'm done with classes, so we can go shooting whenever. Just don't laugh at me for having nothing but the camera w/kit lens and a cheapo $10 tripod =p H4-2's have a single moving burner, right. Let me know if you wanna sell em - I'll put em on my motorcycle. And seriously, FX35's are sweet bixenon projectors. I got mine for $100, so you can't whine about price. $80 for clear lenses puts you at $30 over the TSXs I posted, and your output is just as laser-sharp but you get high beams! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Seriously now, don't tell me you'd be disappointed by these. If my next paycheck is big enough (I'm expecting 2 months of backpay), I'm buying the clear lenses this weekend. Otherwise I'm gonna ask Cammy to get me them. Edit- Wait, nevermind.. I don't need clear lenses, because the Spyder's clear lenses are a perfect swap! Buahahahah!!!!!!!! Last edited by GuySmily; 12-17-2008 at 09:44 PM. |

That's actually pretty sweet. I might change my mind after all.
Nope, the H4-2's according to the seller I bought them from are: HID low beams, and halogen high beams. I'd sell them to you, but you can buy them for 65 bucks on eBay. ![]() ![]()
