You CAN put red bulbs in your headlights and still see where you're going, but it's a dumb idea....
No...it's the other drivers who are dumb. Haven't you be paying attention?

I can't think of a reason for doing this... As people have stated, it just seems dangerous and illegal and serves to reduce your visibility when reversing.
the reason is i had the extra bulbs and wanted to try it and you dont really need back up lights in the daytime to see and like i stated I RARELY BACK UP

When it's dark, I'm in a parking lot and watching for other cars, etc. and saw parking lights, I wouldn't assume the vehicle is reversing and would continue forward until I got close enough to see that it's moving. I wear glasses and can't see well in the dark, I dunno why that's just how it is. That doesn't make me dumb, that makes me aware that amber lights are GD parking lights, and not reverse lights.

I guess, like so many of us here on the forum, you're just trying to personalize your car. But, it's probably not a good idea to have amber back up lights... as they are neither safe nor legal.

How about something like this if you want to have custom back up lights?

The difference being that the general public is stupid. Like was said, people have been trained since the advent of reverse lights to look for white lights to indicate a reversing vehicle.

This is a big if, but say you back into somebody. They "didn't see you" because your reverse lights are not the color they're suppose to be. That automatically raises an eyebrow on the officer writing the report, and that report will then get sent to insurance, which will then investigate why you have such an awkward mod on your car and possibly refuse to fix it, etc etc...it just seems like it has potential to become a bigger headache than necessary. Especially on a car that already has amber turnsignals.

I'm not sure about you either, but I back up at least two times every single day. When I park the car at work, when I park the car in the driveway and this doesn't include any other trips I make while out. It adds up dude. All for the sake of a mod you yourself can't even see unless somebody else is driving your car everywhere. Backwards. This is like the guy who was all knowitall about his green turnsignals a few months back.

Alas, like was said. Your car, do what you want. It just seems ill-advised.
