As I always say Yarii are fast*
* In neutral, downhill, with a tailwind, seats and engine removed, and gas tank empty.

Ok I topped my car out I read it wrong the first i had started braking for a bit last so I thought it was 120. Its actually about 117 mph. Also the trick about pulling your E-Brake to the firts notch doesn't work either.

mine DEFINITELY STOPS at 100mph EXACTLY, and then the revlimiter kicks in. I have worked on cars a long time and I know exactly what that sounds and feels like on the pedal. 2007 Yaris Hatch.

My first 3 gears will do 30mph(90mph total) so if i go by that I technically should be able to do 150mph. Haven't taken the car much over 100 yet but on my last car(07 auto) I hit 118 before it just kinda sat there but I didn't top it out. I think you could probably do 130+ if you topped out each gear, however I think you would need more than stock hp or a long highway.

Chongo, you have a very unusual Yaris there. Never heard of one limited at 100. I haven't topped mine out, but pretty sure I was over 100 out near Big Bend in far west Texas last winter.
Also, US Yarii should all have rev limiters. I've hit mine at autox,a nd I can't think of a car made int he last 10 years or so that doesn't have a rev limiter on manual trannys. Its suprising to hear the variety of responses on here about the governor limits and/or rev limiters (and lack thereof). Unusual for toyota. There cant' be very many of us who've toyed with the ecu, I assume? ( I haven't) |

The question is how the hell does one get the chance to go this fast? If you go that fast on a California freeway you're going to hit a pothole and go flying.

i have never seen above 110 on a race track in this car, it usually runs out of steam or road at about 105 mph.
for reference, i have been to CMP and Roebling Road Raceway. RRR is pretty fast track, but neither can let you "top out" the car.

I had my 1.5l LB to 115mph and it was rock solid on DF springs... no hint of a governor at that speed... I hit the rev limit occasionally when I wait too long to shift, but I've never experienced the governor... oh yea I forgot... Video of my spedo WOT to 110mph
