Bought new in 07 - Now has 157k miles on it.
Have replaced only the water pump and tires (twice) so far....knock on wood.
Oil is changed frequently.
Next step is adding a trailer hitch so that i can haul my kayak on a trailer instead of trying to prop it up on the car as shown.

I just purchased a 2014 Yaris a month ago. It has 2500 km on it now.

My 2005 Echo that I replaced had 377,400 km (thats about 236,000 mi) on it. I bought it new in 2005.

Currently past 170,000 kilometers so 100,000 miles is away back in the dust.
All is well.

100,000 km in yaris soon..
But hearing a strange tick.rattling sound when accelerating...
For now, only things changed were the serpentine belt, gasket for transmission, spark plugs

You've been advised recently that this could be the doughnut gasket in the exhaust manifold. Have you checked that out yet?

I'll check that out myself. I'm reaching 100k soon and this has been my only issue within the 55k that I've owned it. Well...that and my serpentine belt being slightly cracked.

interesting.. you are having the same problem.... have you been able to solve it? me not yet.. still digging for answer...pls keep me updated!

my trusted mechanic told me to let it degrade with time and the sound may become louder eventually and it will be easier to spot it (he hints it may be the timing chain). My little finger's telling me it may be exhaust or bearing.. but alas no mechanic has been able to confirm my suspicion, in spite of them checking at this place or any other place.

will keep you guys updated if I can crack this nutshell.

If it is the bearings (wheel bearings) the sound will get louder . Many moons ago (at 110k+ miles on my now 300k+ miles blue Yaris), I took the old girl in to get her brakes checked. I was told that the brakes were barely worn, but that I needed new front wheel bearings. The shop showed me what they found. I was conditioned to the sound. After the repair.....sooo quiet. The difference was like night and day.

2009 sedan, bought used in Oct 2014.

Had 139,000 on it.

Put 20,000 miles on it.

Only thing replaced was the tires. Previous owner slightly warped rotors, but that's getting fixed soon
