Nitrous - Safe Shot System - a safer alternative
I was looking on the forum for information on reputable nitrous systems. The conclusion I came to was a complete system is the way to go and short cuts/cheap cuts are risky.
I was on the ZEX website and found a cute little system which might work well for some Yaris drivers looking for occasional excitement for their daily driver without too much of a hit on their wallet. The system is the Safe Shot Nitrous System and adds only 15-35hp(probably depends on the application) http://www.compperformancegroupstore...de=KitsFuelDry |

This might go really good with that TB spacer Alex is developing. Thanks for the link.

How hard do you think it would be to set up without a throttle body spacer? I can imagine you want the port for the nitrous as close to the throttle body as possible.

Its a dry system, no fuel is delivered with the nitrous, the car has to compensate, I guess with only 30 hp it;s o.k, but most people state a wet system is more reliable.

What are your guys thoughts on this???[/QUOTE] I was planning on picking a dry kit just like this . I've been lurking around scionlife and many 1nz-fe xA/xB's are running a 35hp jet with a dry kit all day long (in some posts years) with no problems or drop in compression . Its really about not abusing the bottle. |

I have heard the same thing. I was hoping if you are not adding too much horsepower this would not be an issue but I do not know nearly enough about this topic to know. More research is necessary.
It looks like you can basically introduce the nitrous just about anywhere. Any suggestions on the best place to introduce the nitro??? |

hahaha that air filter is pretty pimp for a dry kit IMO, if they sold a small cheap wet kit like that i'd be all over it...

This special air filter with the ZEX dry kit sounds like a great beginner system!

He has a turbo Xa, and was once running the same blitz supercharger with Nitrous. if im not mistaken he was using a wet kit and the car ran fine with the boost and nitrous, he said the nitrous helped prevent detonation since it cooled his intake charge. but he got greedy and used to large of a shot of nitrous and blew the engine. couldnt tell u exactly how big his shot was but i think it was probably a 50 shot that killed it. he also said he had a lot of issues with the belt slipping with the blitz kit and thats y he ultimately went turbo. my plan is to in a year or less to add nitrous. Just cuz i'm nuckn futz. is this one of those kits that engages at WOT? |

considering that the blitz supercharger on average should put about 130 hp to the wheels, an extra 35hp will put u at 165hp which i would say is a safe number considering that the turbo guys r pushing nearly 180hp with no issues

u said this doesnt add fuel to the mix of n2o? so my question is does the n2o jet have to come before the MAF or could u use the spacer plate that the guy is fabricating that will have the jet ported already on the spacer, which will come after the n2o?

Wouldn't you want the nitrous introduced prior to reaching the MAF even for a dry kit? My reasoning is the dry nitrous hits the MAF - the MAF sees there is more oxygen - more fuel is releaed.

Ummmm as far as I know the dry kit is safe to spray before the MAF as you are correct it will adjust for it in a fashion due to monitoring IAT if the yaris has a sensor for it. The kit looks like it has a directional sprayer so you will be able to install it with our adapter as long as the tapping is correct for it.
We didn't opt to put this thing more downstream on the intake as when you spray it has potential to hit the throttle body butterfly and not deliver the whole nitrous shot and can cause a puddle in the intake...Also, I don't think you want to be spraying anything onto the MAF sensor thermoresistor dealy |
