So ... I'm getting 18"s ... - Toyota Yaris Forums

and I have a 2" lowering springs (well, 1.6/1.8 - but you get the point) and I am really not thinking that is going to work all that well together.

I could have swore that this exact topic has been brought up in the past, but I went to look for it and it's no where to be found.

I was going to go with coilovers and just forget about the lowering springs, but I decided I really like springs better (personal preference). So - now I am almost thinking since my wheels are on back order it might be smart and get it switched to 17"s if I am going to keep that much of a drop.

So - I need pictures, if anyone has any. I went through almost all 30982304238 pages of the after market wheels thread but don't really see anything - but I could have easily missed some going through all those pictures.

I need opinions on if it would be better to keep the 18"s and get a 1" drop, or switch to 17"s and keep the 2".

PS - I have a 4 door sedan, I did find pictures of the hatch, but I don't know if it would change things that much

You could have rubbing with 18"s
Sedan is heavier, so the springs will sit lower as well...

actually i think the sedans are lighter than the liftbacks.

My yarisgarage has pics of my 17's with a two inch drop if that helps.

The 17's with 2" drop rubs on turns and bumps. I have been told I could have gone with smaller tires though that could remedy this.

I love your sedan! Thanks for your input, guys - I am going to switch it up to the 17"s and keep my 2" kit.

hehe if you want my honest opinion from experience, stick with the 17's. 18" wheel look awesome, but they're not really practical, you have way too little sidewall so the ride is really rough, and the rims can get damaged easily.

I want to avoid wheel damage as much as possible. lol I've never owned a car this small, so in my head 17"s just seem so small but looking at the pictures, they tuck perfectly and look awesome on the car. Since I am not about performance, I just want it to look good - but there is a fine line between looking good and just looking dumb.

I was between 17 and 18 when I got my 17's and now I wish I had bought 16's. 17's seem small on paper but in real life for these cars 17's will be big enough. :)

Yeah, don't go 18 on the Yaris. Too big IMO. 17's look "big" on the Yaris.

As other pointed out, 18's will be very likely to get damaged with such little rubber protecting them. Plus possible rubbing, ect. Plus, the tires are more expensive to keep replacing.

I don't like the way 18's fit on the Yaris. 17's look great with the proper wheel offset and tyre size. But, I'd go with 16's.

I have the 15" stock steelies on now, and I think they are WAY too small, so 16"s would still be too small (IMO, of course). The 17"s should be perfect :)

Sorry I missed your post earlier asking about my tires. They're 205/45/17zr. :) I still say 16's would be nice but the 17's will fill in the wheel well. The rims look nice. Can't wait to see them on the car.

Cool, I got 205/40/17. Let's hope for no scraping. lol I am going to hold off on lowering it until I see how much of a difference it is. I might end up just going with the 1" drop, or if it doesn't look too 4x4 I might just keep it sitting on stock suspension. I am sure I will end up dropping it; I have yet to own a car or truck I haven't slammed as close to the ground as possible. lol

Sounds good. You should be fine even when it's lowered.
