DRLs and SRS
Hi All,
A couple of questions. I bought my 08 Yaris S Memorial Day weekend. I've noticed that it doesn't have DRLs. I've also noticed that every Yaris I've seen on the road also don't have DRLs. Were they an option in the US? Or does the Yaris just not come with them? Also, how can I find out if my car came with the SRS package? I think the stock came only with the front air bags, but the side air bags were an option. Can I call the service department at the dealership? Is there a way to research it online? TIA, Yaniv |

I've bought a 2007 S sedan and 2 2009 sedans that aren't equipped with DRLs. A few days ago someone from Pennsylvania mentioned the DRLs on his 2008 Yaris. Must be a state law that they have them there.
My 2009s are marked with the SRS symbols on the inside of the windshield pillars. I think if they don't have that, they don't have the bags. |

Here in the North East, the cold weather package was mandatory and a few other odd options came in the bundle such as DRLs, a MP3 aux port in the center console, and 15in wheels. (base model, manual, 3dr hatch)
Not sure that DRLs or MP3 help winter starting or driving any, but I like having them. I also like the 15in wheels as it matches up with my wife's Scion. I think DRLs are required in Canada at least, so throwing them in with the cold package may have been one small attempt of having fewer versions of the car. My 2008 base hatch does not have the side airbags, but neither did my prior ride and that is OK for me. |

My 2007 Sedan did not come with DRL Lights. It was purchased in CT.
Do you have the window sticker from Toyota? It may give you a clue to what you exactly purchased. Mine was in the Glove Box; as I believe the dealer had to include it; in my state. |

hardly any pre 2009 yaris came with the side airbags. 2009 yaris comes standard with the side curtain and side seat airbags.

Unfortunately, since I bought mine used, I don't have the window sticker.

Sedans of any year up to now do not have DLR's. The 5 door and 3 door hatchbacks, from 2008 on, do come with them. I believe it wasn't until mid 2008 when side air bags became mandatory up till then they were an option.

DRL in the States is not a Federal law, hence not all cars have DRL.
in 2007, the Canadian Yaris had side and side curtain airbags as an option with the power package. Base and Aero (Yari S) were only available with only 2 front airbags. |
