Old yaris owner looking for a new one.

Hey guys, been a long time member but never needed much help. My 2007 yaris sedan was smacked by an uninsured driver a couple weeks ago and they've finally let me know it's totaled. I had 106k miles and all I did was change oil and buy tires. It was the best car I ever owned and fully expected 400k miles and 20 years of service. So now I need a new one. Unfortunately toyota messed up big time and there is no longer a sedan. I love the yaris so much, I'm willing to buy a body style that I'm not thrilled with. So my plan is a 2012 3-door in Blazing Blue. My main question is, when will they be cheapest? I mean, will they drop in price once the 2013 models are released? Should I wait, or just go out and get one? Also, it's been suggested that I use a car buying service which would search a larger area than I'm capable of.

2013 will be same as 2012, so I wouldn't expect much of a discount on a left over. Your best bet for catching a significant discount would probably be to find a sedan or 2011 LB that has been sitting on a dealer lot.

I hadn't even considered finding a 2011 that wasn't pre-owned. I'm very against inheriting other peoples problems.

By the way CTScott, I just wanted to thank you for all the info you share on this forum. I was just reading up on DIY cruise control, great stuff.

If you do a search on cars.com there are about 60 new 2011's (a mix of sedans, 3dr, and 5dr) around the country.

Went to a dealership today just to check out the 2012 hatchbacks. The salesman told me the same thing about the fleet sedans. They had a base 3dr with automatic(needed for my mom to drive occasionally) for $15,700 on the sticker. Seems pretty high to me.

I believe MSRP is $15,600 on the car you're looking at. $15,700 seems a bit high to me as well.

Now I'm really torn. I found an 07 sedan automatic for $10k with under 41k miles. It's basically the same car I had before, just a different color.

Yeah, if it were me, I'd find a used, low-mileage sedan since you know you like it. As far as other people's problems, you could get a Toyota Certified one and get the warranty that comes with it, plus you'd know that it had been thoroughly checked by a Toyota-trained technician. I've seen some really good deals on some, only I'm looking for a manual only, so that cuts way down on the choices. :)

Yeah, that one I'm thinking about is Toyota certified pre-owned. If it is still available once the insurance comes through I'll probably get it.

Used 4 door auto sedans are frequently rental cars. While rentals are well maintained, some drivers beat the living crap out of them because there are no consequences.

Yup, basic transportation, but while I was at it I went with Blazing Blue. Just cause it's basic doesn't mean it can't look good. Got some minor mods planned, rear swaybar, cruise, remote start. Picking it up in the morning, I'm excited.

Here's a shot of the old sedan by the way.

Wow. You haven't mentioned being hurt, so I assume you are okay. Another Yaris protects its driver! Did you get a 5 speed manual or an automatic?
