Yaris or new Nissan note

Thinking about trading my 2012 LE , for a new versa note. Is this a bad idea?

I feel generally Toyota is higher quality than Nissan, but you're asking the question on a Yaris enthusiast forum, so, yeah.

The Note is made in Mexico, where Nissan have achieved high standards, usually cars for export have better equipment than those for local market. The Note offers some gadgets not available in the Yaris (like the CVT) and more cargo space!

The Yaris (Made in Japan or France) is know for his reability and simplicity (i like that), fuel economy and I personally dont like the Nissan design of the steering wheel and console across the models. The engines are legendary and there is plenty of aftermarket parts.

I consider the CVT a big red mark negative - not a positive. I would gladly take the bulletproof, time-tested 4 speed automatic of the Yaris any day, over the historically problematic Nissan CVT drive-train. I will never buy a car with a CVT in it. I prefer manual, or a conventional 4-6 speed automatic (5 is the sweet spot for me, both with manual and automatic).

If cargo space is your thing, the Honda FIT is king of subcompacts - and they have a crappy CVT also.

The first generation of Nissan CVT sucked hard and premature fail was an issue, but the flood of complaints make Nissan put more pressure in Jatco (the component manufacturer) and develop more reliable CVT´s (they adddressed the cooling problems).

I still prefer my 5-speed...

I drove a 2015 Nissan Note rental car this fall and it was much more fun to drive than my 2012 Yaris 5sp. I would never buy one, though, as I don't trust their reliability.

Not in a million years would I take the Versa Note. Nissan quality is not what it used to be. Just curious as to why you are looking at a different car in the same category? New car itch? You won't get 400,000 miles out of a Nissan Versa Note. A Yaris, yes. Completely up to to.

Well, if he's got the new-car itch, he probably won't be concerned about going 400,000 miles. :p
