Hatch lift strut bracket broken off
Has this happened to anyone else? I could tell the lift struts were getting tired, cuz I would have to push the hatch up all the way by hand to get it to stay up. Last night, apparently, one of the struts seized while fully extended, so when I closed the hatch, it ripped the mounting bracket out of the body and was hanging out of the hatch. Fortunately, it didn't do any damage to the hatch or taillight. I can order new struts, but I'm not sure how to reattach the bracket as it is riveted (or spot welded??).
Any Suggestions? Last edited by thebark; 01-09-2026 at 04:53 PM. |
