Found a HO alt company

Well, I've been doing a little shopping around for a high output alt for Yari and just thought I'd pass on Excessive Amperage def gave the best deal. They're a VERY reputable company that puts out high quality products and well, they gave me the lowest price out of about four or five companies I checked out. So I have a 180 amp alt in the works, I'll keep yall updated.

I found them through a stereo site I'm on, they're a sponsor. Like I said, very reputable company. There are tons of guys on the site running their alts with 2000+wrms stereos and nobody has problems.

no problem, I'm working out the deals with Nate(the owner) right now. He's giving the highest amperage I've been able to find for the Yaris (180A) and his price has been $50+ cheaper than everywhere else.

Just make sure you find out at what RPM you need to be at to get 180A. Some HO alts need to the engine to be going 3000 rpm to put out the full amount, and put out the same as a stock alt at idle.

Thats true, and some aftermarket alts do slightly more than stock amps at idle, but at a Yaris stock idle (650 rpm?), there will never be much of an improvement without a drastic increase in alternator size. What matters most is the ramp up of amps with rpm's. If it takes to redline to hit max amps, you are not much better off. If you smoothly improve amps output from idle to 2500 rpm's, you have a nice alt. Just my

Yeah, that makes sense. That way your battery will be recharged by everyday driving, not just a trip on the highway.

Despite my tach, I had forgotten that the Yaris idle is so low. Yeah, 650 rpm won't be spinning the alt that fast anyway.

Most Toyota alternators are designed to start charging at around 1,000 RPM. This can obviously become a problem since the Yaris doesn't even idle at 700RPM.

What some of you would benefit from is an overdrive alternator pulley. A properly designed overdrive alternator pulley would allow your OEM alternator to charge at lower RPMs.

A $100 pulley would also be easier on your wallet than a $400 alternator.

Haha, sorry. I have the alt being built right now. It's going to take about 3 weeks to finish and have it shipped to my front door so it's just a waiting game right now. Through calculations and advice from members on realmofexcursion.com (the audio site I'm most on) I'm told with this alt I'll be able to run 3-3.3kwrms with 180 amps with an extra batt in the back and not have a problem. All I have right now is 2 1000wrms Kicker amps and one 2200wrms MTX amp so I'm thinking I'm just going to be doing 2k in the Yaris(for now). For subs I'm not too sure, I have two 1000wrms 15's just sitting around, I have a 2500wrms 12" on preorder, and a quad 8" box being shipped to me as we speak so I've got a lot of stuff to think about here.
