what were you guys averages during the first couple tanks after purchase?

I have an 07 liftback and I seem to get around 300-10 on a full tank. I fill up right away after the last bar begans to blink though, should I be driving more?

I thought mpg should be better as advertised???? Should I just wait for it to be broken in longer or go to the dealer to see if anything may be wrong?

By the way I baby the car, and it sees mainly highway miles. also I always keep it under 70.

Break-in time is definately a factor in MPG. I have 2200 on the ODO and my MPGs seem to be going up by about 1MPG per fillup lately. 31,32,33...
Also try switching to synthetic oil at your first oil change. Folks have been reporting increased MPGs just by doing that. Mobil-1 or Amsoil is your best bet with a good filter.

thankx for the reply. I figure the little guy just needs the engine to be broken in for a little longer. I'll do the switch to synthetic aswell and see what kind of role that plays. Maybe an intake to help the engine breath better, should help with mpg aswell.

My miles per gallon are GREAT!!

My husband took our Yaris on a highway trip this last weekend. When I filled up the tank today, he had gotten 37 mpg. The car only has about 300 miles on it so it can only get better, I bet. What a wonderful little car.

Smartcar

The Smartcar has come to the United States as of last year, I believe. It could not be sold in California yet because of our strict smog laws, BUT it is going to be sold next year here. It is only a 2 seater car and that is why I chose the Yaris instead of getting one of these.

Smartcar....more info

Chrysler will not be selling these cars. They blew their opportunity to do this a long time ago when they decided not to bring the 4 people Smartcar to the US. Then they "restructured" if you want to call it that, and that sealed the deal. I have read that the Smartcar ForTwo (that's the name it will be sold by) will be sold at independent dealers around the country. I believe they are asking $13,000 to $14,000 for them.

1st full tank used 2007 Yaris Liftback Base 34.45 MPG

I just purchased a 07 Yaris with 23,410 miles on it. I just finished my first tank of fuel from full fill up.

I drove it until the last bar started blinking with 349.7 miles and it took 10.15 gallons to fill giving me 34.45 mpg in Seattle which is all hills.

I keep records of all fill ups for years on my cars and just retired a Cadillac from daily commute that only offered 17 mpg.

I found this one at a dealership, think it was from a "richer" couple or family, and was just a second car that wasn't used much.
