ive been saying this in a few posts foe a while now, you will see this motor in a yaris by 2009. so far the xd shares not only the yaris ts/sr motor but the usdm TRD shocks and strut bar. its a good thing to be able to work for toyota/scion......

No offense, but I'll believe it when I see it. Don't get me wrong -- I'd love it. However, the xD already will be a small hatch (on the Yaris platform already) with this engine. I'll keep my fingers crossed, though.

2ZZ-GE Boosted seems to be promising so far .. 180hp to the crank = boost sounds doable to me. As far as mounting points, how close are they?
Also, anyone know the roundabout cost of a used motor with low miles?

Just found this, thought I would share...been up most of the night looking for decent priced motors.
4AGE- 165hp blacktop $950- motor only, 50kish miles. 4AGE- Silvertop $750- motor only. 50kish Turbo 3SGTE (93 Celica) $1350- motor/trans 5spd. 50kish Turbo 3SGTE Engine/Trans JDM ST185 Swap $1400 with ECU and Harnesses, Ready to work on. Just within a couple hours I found these, kinda pricey, but could be made affordable, Would fit nicely in the older gen Echo though. WTB Older gen Echo Hatch 2Dr !!!!

Once I get the fellas away from the crank shaft we are going to try and line up the mounts for a test fit.

i wouldnt run a 2zzge, the tranny is junk, its why i got rid of my XRS....ask anyone on 9thgencorolla or matrixowners.com....junk.
not totally sure a 2zz or 1zz would fit as i recall seeing someone try with an echo hatchback, but they had to cut the frame (check echodrivers.com or echo-bb.com) though 2300lbs w/ a 1zz or the new 2zzfe (or whatever it is) would definitely be promising.... but its easier just to boost the 1nzfe

1ZZ-FE is not a bad choice for Yaris.
But for keeping it pure Toyota, ultimate power, money no object, 2ZZ-GE most definitely is the route I would take. Nearly every engine offering from any given manufacturer seems to go this way, larger displacement engine with superior cylinder head, but more costly to tune.

you say "but keeping it pure toyota" but the 2zz head is made by yamaha

also i have a mr2 spyder and the mother of swaps is the 2zz and i have never heard that the 6 spd is junk, only prob i have heard is of my friends 2zz celica and his 4th gr sycro is goin out/all ive heard
and about the 1zz/2zz the 1zz is my choice because it has potential for loads more tq then the 2zz would dream about, but the 2zz can pull alot more hp #'s and myself would like to have a fair balance of hp/tq so my plans for the spyder were goin to be a Rotrex build, seems most promising and reliable so far, and the guy that creates the kit for the mr2 only lives hours away from me |
