Saw two hatchbacks side by side today on the highway, one had ALL emblems on back taken off. Needless to say, it didn't look good without the middle toyota logo.

I first debadged only the "Toyota" on the left of my sedan trunk, but then a couple weeks later I couldn't resist also debadging the "Yaris" on the right too. So now it's nice and clean and balanced, with only the Toyota logo remaining in the middle.

I did them both with just some dental floss and a wax detailing wipe to help clean up after. They were both pretty easy, but the "Toyota" was a little easier than the "Yaris" because it's a little smaller, with thinner letters, so therefore had less adhesive on the back holding it on. The dental floss broke a couple of times on the "Yaris".

Also made a point of saving both badges so that I can always reattach them later or give them to a buyer/dealer when I sell or trade the car (way down the road, no time soon ).

I'm now thinking that I may have jumped the gun a little with the debadging of the "Yaris" on the right (but I don't regret debadging the "Toyota" on the left at all, I like having that gone). So if I do decide to put the "Yaris" back on, I was wondering...

- Has anyone rebadged the "Yaris" in a different position than its original one (on the sedan)?
- Has anyone blacked out the "Yaris" (especially if on a white sedan) while keeping the Toyota logo in the middle chrome? I will probably leave the "Yaris" chrome too, but curious.
- Has anyone used "3M Plastic Emblem & Trim Adhesive", instead of the "3M Body Molding Tape" that seems to be used pretty often for rebadging?
Thanks.

I removed the Toyota badges(front/back) and did this...applied 3M black carbon foil! The one on the trunk looks the same! Better pictures coming by the end of the week!

Well, I did end up reattaching both badges, and in their original positions (with the "Toyota" on the left and the "Yaris" on the right). Measured and marked off their positions to make sure they were even and level, and used the 3M Emblem Adhesive. Oh well, I guess debadging just wasn't for me after all.

DONE!!!!! - Took 5min with a morning cup of coffee. No heating, just lightly "sawed" through with the fishing line, rubbed off the excess tacky clue, quick wipe down and done. She gets a wax job at the SPA tomorrow, so all perfect after that. Thanks for this.

Will post pics tomorrow after she is all polished up.

All I did was take some fishing line and basically went underneath it working my way through the emblem. I was able to take it off after that pretty easily. Peeled off the left over glue and used some 3m rubbing compound to blend in the newly exposed paint.

I've never had fishing line take more than about 30 seconds, but the squeegee looks like it would work too.

The fishing line worked GREAT!

The fishing line worked great and very easy to do. There is a fishing line that is braided instead of mono or plastic material and
kind of the same as super high strength dental floss. I used Berkley Power Pro 30 lb. test which is the diameter of 6 lb. mono.
The stuff that's called Spider Wire is the same deal and can be purchased at any Walmart if you don't have a buddy who has some
in their tackle box. It slices through the adhesive like a hot knife through butter! Thanks for the tip on the fishing line method!

The stuff you want to pick up is available at Auto Zone or Pep Boys and it's made by 3M if I'm not mistaken, it's called body molding trim tape. The double sided foam adhesive tape is gray in color and has thin red plastic tape you peel off to expose adhesive.
