The one I'm working on now - about $1,000,000 to $1,250,000. Power conversion system for industry, a special customer. About seven megawatts of power out, voltages and currents are proprietary. The damn thing is scary to be around, it hums like a wasp.

We're beating the crap out of it in a special tent, heating it to over 110 degrees, and watching to see how it fares. So far it's going great.

Anyone ever make a mistake in front of a customer? How did you deal with it?

Why does the person above not post a question after their answer?

1. Contain their anger with empathy. I'm good at that without seeming like I"m "handling" them.

2. Either answer their questions and concerns or go find someone who can answer the questions and concerns. Customers understand that people don't always have a quick answer, but most appreciate an accurate answer.

So, what do you do for a living? You need not be too specific, a broadbrush portrait will do.

Engineering tech who does Validation Engineering work for a Corporate player in the power systems market. I do engineering aide work and data analysis when that's called for too. It's ticklish work but a lot of fun.

Figured that time spent as an accounting assistant would pay off some day.

^Don't forget to ask a question

I'm actually an independent life insurance agent. I setup appointments with prospects and write life policies and/or fixed annuities for them. To save them time I usually add-up the remaining balance of their mortgage plus total cost of living for a full year to help determine their needed insurance amount

Same q?
