I have already said that the best solution would be to use the depowered 1.8VVTli from Celica TS, with at least 160-180 hp.

Celica GT Engine 1.8 VVT-i will put in the new yaris is doable and practical, and is 90% confirmed by Japan Toyota...160 HP is possible..
But I am pretty sure they not gonna put in the GTS 1.8 VVTL-i engine...

i'm beating every car on the road now with my stock 1.5 liter yaris. I don't understand the need for over kill on power with the yaris. Personally I wish they'd come out with a hybrid yaris that gets 70 miles to the gallon.
they released a hybrid vitz in japan with the previous generation, i wonder if they will do the same with the new gen

I'm sure we won't be getting this model. I really hope I have to eat my words, but I bet I won't.

I hope we don't. I don't want to go through the process of trading up, haha.

Honestly, I've seen too many people blow their cars up (literally) to be throwing a bunch of engine mods in my Yaris. Until my warranty is up, I am worrying about cosmetics and handling and little shit... exhaust, intake, etc. Then, MAYBE, when the warranty runs out it will be time for that ZPI turbo.

The ZPI turbo has an intercooler mounted underneath the car. That is just too f'n cool.

Cool... though there does seem to be more than enough space for a decent sized intercooler on top of the engine, with matching hood scoop... If done right that would looks badass!

Functional scoops are hot. A top mount intercooler would make that 600 dollar C-ONE CF hood look a lot better.

Well, the problem is, that hood is designed more for the extraction of hot air from the engine bay.. you could use it with an intercooler, but there would not be much of a point as you'd be passing hot air through it!

A normal hood scoop forces cool outside air through the fins of the intercooler, which is far more effective.

I don't see the problem there.

Imagine that all turbocharged Scoobys have the intercooler mounted on top of the engine.

...and most of the guys who are serious end up moving them to the front (FMIC). plenty of kits to convert it.
