No regrets at all. I bought my Focus for $4900, a year later I traded it in for $1500 on the Yaris. Even though I lost TONS on that deal, still a great investment on the Yaris.

Black inserts? Yeah, mine didn't have any black inserts. Mine was also made in 1999 though, one of the first Focus's made.
