I like both the Fit and Yaris. They both have pros and cons, but the Yaris was a lot cheaper which was a big "pro" for me. Would it be a sin to put Fit wheels on the Yaris?

Edmunds trashed the ECHO back in 00. They STILL have no clue. If Honda would bring back the old 85 hatchback suitably updated I would buy it.

Notice the Yaris gets bashed for not having features that weren't even available 10-15 years ago on luxury cars and now people are so spoiled it's expected on a $13K car.

See, these auto journalists drive expensive cars all day long so it is never satisfying to them to drive the cars that we appreciate or even prefer.

Agreed, I understand the initial concern as I had the same feeling when I drove a Yaris rental before I bought mine; but after a very short while I quickly realized that the center-mounted instruments was a preferred set-up for me!

Plus, if you look at the interior pictures of the three cars in the review, you will notice that the Yaris is the cleanest. I don't want the inside of my car to look like I am driving a spaceship, I prefer the minimalist approach.

FInally, I really don't consider the Yaris, Fit and Cube to be in the same genre. Sure, they are all subcompacts but the styling of each is completely different and each appeals to a entirely different customer base. The Fit looks to appeal to new families that want a car that bridges between a compact and a minivan, the Cube is for the "thump-thump" MTV crowd who are "hip" and "cool," and the Yaris is geared more towards the European/Japanese driving enthusiasts.

Regardless, I love my Yaris and I honestly don't give a rat's ass what magazines don't like it. As I've said before, it was the constantly solid owner reports that I researched that finally sold me on it!

I think it's disappointing that the average yaris did not come with the corolla engine, especially in the sedan where you might be hauling 2-3 people...but other than that, the car rocks IMO. cheap, reliable (so far haha), and a bit of its own style

I'm fine with the 1500cc engine. It will merge nicely onto the Interstate and cruise 70 MPH with 4 adults. Only time I've ever felt it was working hard was on the long, steep climb into Bays Mountain Park outside of Kingsport, TN. Everything else I've driven in there was pulling pretty hard, too.
