You can totally do it. My surgery was in June. Right before Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years! Lots of delicious food and alcohol that time of year! It *can* be done!

Dory, that is IMPRESSIVE! Looking mighty fine, including the freckles. You look just great!!

I ain't too worried about my weight, mostly because at my age (70) I'm not out to impress anyone any more. Best weight ever was 166, top weight 197, currently 184, and that is as good as it will get.

Believe it or not, the biggest contributor to overweight is MSG: it is in everything, and finding stuff to eat that doesn't contain it is really difficult. Fresh fruit and veggies, and meat with your own seasonings (not Spike or steak sauce) is about it. All fast foods, all packaged foods, loaded with this crap. Avoid MSG, and you are immediately yards ahead. Unfortunately, we are addicted to it, and getting off it and actually taste the food is more than some can take.

Good advice about smaller portions: eat enough, no more! The experts say you MUST be hungry before you eat; stop depending on the clock to tell you when it is mealtime...
