Yea, insane overkill. I just want a good sounding system with absolutely no insulation. Hmm, do you think a judge would ever give a stripped to the bone car a good score?
Uxbridge!

Let me know if you get a job there, I'll be happy to help you.

Feel free to call with any questions at the show. I have the rule book sitting in my car.

D...

Don't sweat ANYTHING! This is just a car show. Don't let anything pressure you. You must remember that the people judging are human and very subjective. Don't take anything personally. Someone will probably say something stupid or insulting.

Just get to the show early. Fill out your paperwork, place it under the wiper and hang around the car with a fold up chair ready to answer any questions. DON'T be late! That irks the judges.

As for your bass...ground shaking bass isn't "real". That's the realm of USACi and MECA. Realism is the utmost of importance. A stand up bass should NOT rock your car (for example).

Thanks, I'll be ok, and will stay cool.

I have to be there early because I have family with me, so I spoke with them about it and they agree to do registration and then I have to go back for my crew and then they will judge. The 2 guys I spoke with sounded very friendly, so we'll see how it goes.

I like about "realm" my friend the musician who used to belong to the Navy Band told me one day... your car sounds so real. So I feel good about "realm"

What about volume level? will they crank the volume to the maximum?

You can also put up a center point on your dash. Something like a hula girl wobbly...right were you think the center vocals are. That will show the judges subliminally (at least) where your center is.

Another trick is to fold down the sun visors to shrink the height of the windshield. It's another subliminal thing for the judge.

You can also put your rear view mirror facing toward the roof. This will keep the judge from being distracted by anyone behind the car while judging. The other thing to do is to keep onlookers away from the front of the car while you are under judging. visual distractions and all.

Also remember to keep your cabin cool! Cool is comfortable. Comfortable yields better scores through a happier judge.

All IASCA judging should be done at a 90dB reference.

MECA has no limit.

Do you experience break up at higher volumes?

Good tips, thank you.

Well when I crank all the way up above comfort level you can tell very easy when the subwoofer stops been musical.

That's the trade off. Small format woofers, and especially the ISW's, power handling and suspension travel is limited compared to larger woofers.

I still contend that they'd be used well as mid woofers in doors more readily than subwoofers.

Enjoy the day! Relax...

Let's all talk about the observations after your 1st place trophy. :)
