I'm pretty sure we all have those ... modding money doesn't create itself.

But, with jobs comes vacation time.

I am game for anywhere, I love road trips as long as I have the gas money :)

Time Off or talk to the boss man/lady

I'd stick with ImportAlliance in July and try to expand on that. I will tell you it is extremely hard to get someone to commit. If you really want to make an impact and be seen, open up a T/A business account, be the travel agent/sponser/event coordinator etc. Get with a hotel and block rooms at a special rate so that people get interested. In order for it to be more successful than any other event previously, and as wide as you want to take the word of the event, you really have to run this as a business. That part is not hard, but keeping on it is.

~ Set up after hours events for the group
~ Get sponsers involved
~ Get a designated hotel involved with rates
~ Raffles (accept donations if willing participants are game)
~ Account for every penny and provide such numbers (as if it were an HOA)

If you are going to be the ring leader, you gotta have the top hat. ImportAlliance is a great idea to expand on and a great way to get the name of the community out there. So your idea holds a lot of water. Get involved and follow the footsteps of many clubs around the country. The internet has a lot of info on getting started with an organization. Good luck.

Mike that sounds to much lol and the problem with IA its a bit far off for the people of the West side of the country, I want it to be in center place of the country to make it easier for people, You see how many people attented to IA not bad but I want most of the ppl from this forum to go, Well at least for the members of the US, But thats what I think

Unfortunately for me, unless it's within about 4 hours from me, count me out.

Yes I have a job. Yes I can earn vacation time. However, I'm also trying to save up vacation time for the week and half around our wedding, and then the 2 weeks in October for the honeymoon. Not to mention I have to have the vacation time saved for any of those snow days we tend to get in the winter (working over an hour away from home tends to make winter traveling a little more difficult).

My car sees enough miles through my commute (over 30k in 1 year). We take his for trips.

Thanks for the offer though!

Also take in to account the number of "commitments" you will hear about and those that will actually show. It's a reality that 2/3 will not attend even if they commit verbally that they will. Though, usually not out of hate, it has to do with life changes and unexpected issues that come up in everyone’s life. This past July we had our biggest turnout for IA, but it could have been a lot bigger. Due to issues one way or the other, a third of the expected showed up. One thing you can't do is get disappointed at the turnout. The more you do to promote this and being proactive, the better this will be.

Those of us that have been to IA a few times now know what it is like and mainly go for the great time we have being together and a chance to catch up on the year and what’s happening in our lives. The show itself is a small part of the idea IMHO.

Every car club I have been a part of (Camaro, Mustang, Impala, NHRA, IASCA, NOVAJeep, etc) have been involved with traveling to different areas and states for shows and meets. Like I hinted to above, the meet is a small portion of the time associated with the time before, during and after if this is a two day event. Sponsors, travel arrangements, offers of discounts are something you really should be involved in. You said it sounds like a lot of work, but that’s the proactive portion of it. The squeaky wheel gets the oil.

The two of you (Danni) have a unique opportunity as you both own the one thing that brings us all together……queue the flag...
....our cars. Stay on it, be on it, and get on it and you will have a successful turnout. Good luck

I'm in. I don't care where I have to drive to. Since I am pretty close to the center of the country (sorta/kinda) I will be there. I promise.

depends on how money is looking next year but subscribed to keep an eye on things none the less.

where isn't much of an issue for me. if i am gonna go on a road trip i'd prefer it be somewhere i haven't been yet. and that's nowhere close for me.

as for a place for the meet, i think somewhere with cool mountainy roads and curves and such. seeing is that is where our cars rise above the rest. also maybe somewhere with a track?

If you guys factor in mountain runs and ripping up the canyons, take into consideration the can of worms that could open up. Following the ground rules of any planned and organized event, safety is the MOST important issue with any event. The organizer is putting themselves at great risk in the event something happens to someone under the direction or leadership resulting in an accident. Don't get me wrong, if the OP wants this to be as big as he wants it to be, he needs to think everything through and these are the most important issues. It sounds like he wants it to be more than just a hand full of cars gathering in a parking lot of a Chick Fi La. With tracks and courses comes insurance to back it up in case of problems.

I love the ideas coming in here, OJ is a great guy and I'm sure he can make this happen for all of us. I love the Colorado idea myself.
